Uncomfortable and the pad burns the skin

I had an earlier version of this strap and liked it but with occasional use over the years the velcro lost its strength and I had to replace it. It was a surrogate and I knew it was different, but it turned out to be very different. My previous harness didn't have a plastic ring to put Velcro on. It was just a hole in another part of the velcro that you put the smaller end through and it stuck in place. He also had a long rubber cylinder covered with nylon webbing that was inserted into a recess below his knee for support. You can detach it or adjust it with Velcro. With this new one, the plastic ring digs into my skin and hits my knee in an awkward spot no matter how I use it. The rubber cushion is also built in and not adjustable. It is a rectangular rubber pad. So when I place the pad where I need support, it places a plastic side ring in the area that digs into my foot. Worst of all, the rubber pad doesn't fit my skin. When I remove the strap I burn in the same shape as the pad. It burns for about an hour and leaves a slight redness. No noticeable redness, which is strange. After the burn is over, itches for a while. I don't know what's going on as applying an antiallergic cream doesn't help as if it's an allergic reaction. All in all it was a waste of money for me. . It doesn't fit in the right places for my knee and the skin reaction isn't worth wearing. Having put it on twice to make sure the gel/rubber pad was the problem I cannot return it. I would definitely return it if I could.
