Review on πŸ“Ί RV-Friendly SuperSonic SC-499 Portable Widescreen LCD Display with Digital TV Tuner, USB/SD Inputs, AC/DC Compatibility, and 9-Inch Screen Size by Alexander Scharon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A GOOD little TV and perfect for use in my workshop.

I ordered this to replace a small RCA that had failed after only 3 years. I use it at my work station in the basement, with a coax input from my preamp feeding 3 other TVs in the house from an external antenna. I get a good signal and this little TV seems to have a decent and sensitive tuner (as opposed to RCA). I have all the channels and sub-channels that my big TV has (29 digital and 2 analog) so no reception problems. I was concerned when I first plugged it in using a small plug adapter for the antenna cable - it barely picked up 4 channels. I took it out and just plugged my coax into a gold push adapter that allowed it to go into the recessed connection and it worked. No problem, so be aware that the small adapter that comes with it is pretty much useless - obviously it loses a lot of signal. The picture is good and clear and I had no trouble scrolling through the menu and adjusting it a bit. Attaching the base is not a problem if you have a magnetic screwdriver. Overall a nice little kit and I hope it outlasts the RCA. It charged when I took it out of the box and took about 45 minutes, so I'm happy too. I connected amplified speakers to the audio jack so the sound is great. Good buy, I am very satisfied with this device. Having long experience installing TVs and antennas, this kit had no problem for me to set up and use, but if I were a beginner the instructions provided would probably be useless, they are pretty basic. Knowing that the included antenna is only used for strong local channels is also a given. So if you know how to hook it up to a good outdoor or boosted indoor antenna you won't be disappointed. In that regard, all of these little battery-powered TVs are pretty much the same, so keep that in mind. This one is really good and worth the money so I'm very happy with it and it's perfect for my use. One day when I have time I'll explore USB and cable entry options, but for now I'm enjoying keeping myself company at work.
