Review on Magnus VT 4000 Professional Performance Tripod by Buddy Colbert

Save up for Manfroto

I bought two VT-4000s for my Sony FS 700. At first glance the tripods and head looked and felt pretty good for the price. It all ended when I really started using them for videos. My main criticism is the panning screw. When you lock the pan screw, the entire head moves. Somewhere loose in the head when clamped. Unacceptable. I contacted the manufacturer of the Magnus VT 4000 but was told they never had this problem. Of course not. I even sent them a quick clip of the head working while the pan screw is tightened so they can see the movement. Of course, the warranty had already expired, but this was the first time I used it and I'm ashamed that I didn't check it out as soon as it arrived. They said the warranty was expired but they would be happy to sell me a new head, no thanks I will eat my losses and lessons learned. You get what you paid for. If you want professional or even semi-professional results, don't buy. I bought a Manfrotto 502 MVH 502 AH, incredible difference in feel and quality. Yes, it's a bit more expensive, but it's worth saving your money. Anyone interested in buying 2 slightly used VT-4000 heads?
