Love the idea of a lightweight litter and our six cats didn't mind and took to it immediately. This product does not dust and clumps well. 17 pounds equals 34 pounds of regular weight padding and is easy to carry. However, the lightweight spatula slides too easily. Sticks to cat's paws. We first put it in a box a dozen feet from our bedroom, but immediately realized there was a lot more litter left on our bed than with regular litter. We moved this crate to a room behind the kitchen where the other crates are and it was better, but the footprints on the floor were still twice the size of the heavier junk. We also have a cat who loves kicking sand out of the crate and he found it particularly amusing when thrown around. I like it but it's not suitable for our house. If I only had a cat or two, I'd happily try again.
