The Roku TV remote is a little unusual for a smart TV companion, as it has limited functionality and no number keys. The four "sponsored" content buttons give you an instant launch into this streaming content portal, but they vary from remote to remote. For example, if you're not a Hulu subscriber, that button is wasted. I bought the remote so my wife and I both have Netflix, HBO Now, Hulu, and Sling. I can only use the Netflix button. The rest is wasted and cannot be programmed for different streaming content providers. It has a small form factor and is easy to lose, and as space is limited the volume controls are on the side. Not very intuitive. And unlike Roku's "box" remotes, it doesn't have voice control, further limiting you. I'm really tired of typing with the arrow keys on the search screen. And unfortunately, most of the streaming app's search features don't support the smartphone's remote app keyboard, which would really help you when typing search terms. Fortunately, TCL made it so that the remote control supports volume control of the TV and the TCL soundbar.
