Review on ๐Ÿ“ฑ Enhanced Xircom Rex 5001 including Docking Station by Matt Chirila

Incompatible or defective?

I have NEVER been able to sync this thing to a PC. I use a Dell Optiplex GX1 with Windows NT 4.0 and Lotus Notes for email and PIM. (Not my choice, it's enterprise software.) Finding and downloading a "driver" or "module" for Notes required a detective's investigation on their website, and their TrueSync software couldn't even sync with their own TrueSync PIM will. When Rex finished syncing, I always got an error message on Windows, whether I tried to sync with Notes or the 'native' PIM software included on the CD. Its software has serious quality issues with Windows 4.0, it's a tried and true toy that isn't compatible with corporate computers. Maybe it was a defect in Rex himself or in his cradle, but I'll never have time to find out. PDAs are designed to save time and not waste it on silly technical problems. I'll miss its down-to-earth simplicity and truly portable size, but unfortunately it never worked in my work environment. It seems that Palm or Visor are good for a simple, small, compatible and reliable PDA.
