Poor design but a way out
There are two plastic washers that you need to put in two holes but once you do that the two screw holes on the stem don't line up with the holes in the glass. The only way for me to install this thing was to get rid of the plastic washers so there was enough room to screw in the steel bar. I would say bad design.
