I would definitely recommend this product. We've been using it for a few weeks so far. To answer some of the negative reviews, this product was true to size, not smaller. It is 3 inches thick at the top of the "waves" of the foam. If you take it out of the box within the allotted time and leave it out of the blue, it will pop out on its own. The smell is NOT obtrusive! In fact, he does not linger. Upon opening it smelled like the light scent of our van and was gone within a day. Of course, covering him with a sheet and blanket will likely suffocate the smell. At night it gets a little warmer. I think it doesn't breathe very well and absorbs some of the body heat. We both get very hot at night so I can say it makes you warmer, but it certainly will NOT make you wake up in a puddle of sweat. common sense. This is a mattress pad. It can't and never will be suitable as a mattress on its own, but I'm sure someone could use it as a makeshift bed for a night on the floor. It's just the right combination of stiffness and squelch. I'm an oversized chick with a bad back: 7 herniated discs, osteochondrosis and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. We slept on our rock hard RV mattress and I was in a lot of pain. This topper is just what I needed to soften it up and still support me. So again, use common sense. It's 3" thick foam. If you're a large size like me, yes, you'll go down, but it still supports. I'm actually considering putting another one on top of the other, upside down, so we're on lie on the flat part. That's cheap foam.... It's like memory foam. Squeeze it and watch it slowly straighten up.
