I've had this device for a month now and I haven't even had to charge it! Although I don't need to use it every day to correct and I only use it on the lowest setting, I play with the Lazer quite often with my cats and dogs. When I need to correct my dog, for example mostly for things that are dangerous for him; running away from me, especially when we're outside and somewhere near cars or eating something off the floor that makes her nauseous, then at the lowest frequency and volume settings it definitely makes her stop what she's doing and to notice it! But it doesn't seem to cause her any pain. I am very happy with my purchase and it's worth the money! Next time I will buy another one for my sister in law because she has 2 very big and a bit aggressive dogs next door that jump over her fence to chase her cats! I guess she needs to use a higher frequency and volume to stop her! If this works as a deterrent for these large dogs I will update my review with these results as well! Just for the record, my dog is 5 years old, 18 pounds, half pug, half Yorkshire terrier, and as I said, the lowest frequency and volume settings work very well on her! After using this, and not even very often in the month I've had, she almost completely stopped running off me onto the street, and there are things off the floor that can make her sick! I take it with me when we go out, but now I hardly ever need it! It worked really well to fix these issues! And she never showed any sign of her ears hurting or causing pain! She just immediately stops what she's doing wrong and looks to me for instructions! She never had any formal behavior training, only what I taught her myself when she was a puppy. This is really a great product!
