Requires formatting before use

I have this as a portable drive to take with me on trips so I can watch movies or play light games. The first thing that struck me when I connected the device was that my mouse immediately stopped responding, I found it really strange, but after some googling it turned out that this is a common problem with wireless mice used in the near unshielded USB devices. Simple enough, I moved my wireless dongle and my mouse is back. Then I noticed that my computer would freeze for about 2 seconds about every 20 seconds while the drive was plugged in. That was weird too, but I haven't seen anything about it online. I chose to format the drive as a T/S step and that fixed the problem which sounds like they have some kind of software trying to communicate with something installed on the drive when you get it. Then there's my original concern when I bought this drive, which came with a cable. With the way this cable connects to the drive, I don't expect it to last very long even with minimal use. Basically, to connect the cable you have to rotate the cable 90 degrees with minimal strain relief on the cable, so I expect it will fail in a year or two. writes at about 100 MB/s and I don't have time to read. It has a kind of sleep mode in which the drive will be disconnected and reconnected when no data is being transferred. This is something I only noticed after leaving it plugged in at work and hearing it disconnect every 10-20 minutes. It's light and the way the case is made I don't think anything will break it that no other drive will break given it's so small. It's basically an SSD with a plastic case that conforms to the shape.
