Real SSHD, drop tested, easy to use, no activation required. Excellent SSD. no moving part. It's slower than advertised. Reliability should be 99.99% at 10 DPM when solder, WB, and package quality meet industry standards. The cable is short, it is very difficult to use it in real conditions. It's good for pictures, music. For everyday use, it is impossible to concentrate on the task at hand. For NAND flash technology, 500GB can be packaged in a USB flash drive for $10. This is a chipset…

Slow but you can speed it up

This drive is pretty slow and the files are taking up way more space than they should. Found out that this is a disk with exFAT partitions. It was a patch between FAT32 and NTFS. The problem is the file size limit and when you run exFAT, a folder with lots of files takes up a huge waste of space because exFAT allocates it. Now when you copy a large file, say an ISO disc, it's lightning fast. But a folder with thousands of small files is very slow and the allocation size takes up twice as much…

If it doesn't appear.

I've had good experiences with this, but it was very frustrating for me at first. I don't know if it's WD's fault, but when they came they basically didn't have a drive letter assigned, so they didn't show up in File Explorer. But I found a solution so I decided to post it there. Open Control Panel, type Disk Management, right-click an unlettered drive and select its destination. You can also format it to NFTS instead of exFAT so you can compress files and because it's basically an upgrade. If…

Requires formatting before use

I have this as a portable drive to take with me on trips so I can watch movies or play light games. The first thing that struck me when I connected the device was that my mouse immediately stopped responding, I found it really strange, but after some googling it turned out that this is a common problem with wireless mice used in the near unshielded USB devices. Simple enough, I moved my wireless dongle and my mouse is back. Then I noticed that my computer would freeze for about 2 seconds about…

Hi folks, this is Johnny. I specialize in technical reviews and I strongly recommend getting a portable SSD hard drive. These drives are fast and much more reliable as there are no moving parts to damage the drive. However, this new Western Digital portable SSD hard drive has the dumbest and baddest hard drive design I've ever come across! Read on to find out more. The small size of SSD drives makes them ideal for travel, whether it's a long drive or just a trip to the local office. I also have
