You need to wash it but don't tumble dry it.

Very cute and quite soft. But the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. It smelled like chemicals, which wouldn't have been too much of a problem had it survived the wash. The label says machine washable, but dry cleaning is preferable. Go to the cleaners. I followed the wash and machine dry instructions and ended up with a melted and lumpy blanket. The velvet cover has withstood the wash well. The problem is what material they used inside. While it looks good on the bed (and eventually smells like it won't kill me), it's not very comfortable to lie underneath. So it's officially just decoration and therefore not worth the money I spent on it at all.
