Review on πŸ’‘ SilverStone Technology 800W SFX-L Power Supply with 80 Plus Titanium Efficiency and Japanese Capacitors - SX800-LTI-USA by Jim Polacek

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for super quiet mITX built-in Lian Li Tu-150A (Windowless) 3900X 32GB B550i AX 2060

I needed to build a small custom system that for an animator needed to be powerful, compact and very quiet. It should also be able to have a bit of a future upgrade path. While this mITX build only required around 630W of the SF PSU, getting a little more capacity isn't bad. Also, it would allow the fan to stay off most of the time, except when the rendering GPU is heavily loaded, even then it's so quiet. As a general rule, I've mostly used EVGA and Corsair power supplies in my most recent custom builds. While the Corsair SFX750 was my original choice as it's a bit smaller and a bit more familiar to me. At the time of purchase, the SilverStone SX800-LTI Corsair SFX750 was being sold here at Revain for $360 from third-party suppliers, while the SilverStone SX800-LTI was only $180 direct from Revain. I've seen some great reviews on the power adapter and knew this company. I've read all the Revain reviews on here and most of them got slightly low ratings and seemed to be related to cable issues. Yes, the modular cables are a little short and a little stiff. However, for the windowless version of Lian Li TU-150A, which is made of brushed aluminum alloy, they are ideal for straight and clean wiring. A very nice feature of SilverStone was the presence of individual removable/swappable connector covers in each of the modular jack connectors on the power supply. The additional performance allows the user to upgrade to a 3950X or newer and in the future increase the performance of an nVidia or Radeon GPU as needed. I'm not worried about buying new the SilverStone SX800-LTI for future mITX/mDTX builds with 2 NVME PCI drives and 2 SATA SSDs plus a top end GPU all in a nice little package. The SilverStone SX800-LTI meets all requirements perfectly.

Pros
  • 100% Modular Flexible Flat Array Short Cables. Sfx-l form factor for use in small form factor computers
Cons
  • Too long to wait
