After washing my mane and tail, I apply Vetrolin with surgical gloves to keep it from sticking to my hands. I apply a layer of Vetrolin to damp hair, let it dry and reapply. I reapply the product and let the hair soak in fully as often as needed until the mane and tail no longer look dry or brittle at the ends. Only then do I comb the mane and tail with a wide-toothed comb, starting from the bottom up. Sometimes I stretch the process over two days to better accommodate it. The detangling effect lasts for several months on grazing horses and saves an enormous amount of time when brushing the mane and tail every day. Rain doesn't seem to affect performance. Even the occasionally dried Bermuda stems and roots don't get tangled in my horse's thick tails when I use Vetrollin this way.
