The instructions were terrible but luckily there are some good YouTube videos online that are very helpful. This alone will not work with the case. It is designed for thin phones without cases. The part that holds the phone to the dash mount uses the standard ball and socket used by many other mounts. I also bought an air vent holder that fits phones in cases. I used a Rav4 dash mount with a universal phone holder and everything worked great. A bit pricey as I had to buy two holders to get this working but I'm happy with the end result.
