Review on Silver Black+Decker TO3210SSD 6-Slice Convection Countertop Toaster Oven by Angela Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Poor quality oven in toasters

My old oven (Hamilton Beach) broke down after 9 years so I bought Black & Decker. The size and price were right and it's the only one there. Firstly, the oven also heats up during the "baking" with top and bottom heat. You cannot choose one or the other. The elements are hot enough and close enough to the food (even when on the bottom rail) to always burn the top of anything you're trying to bake. Pizza? The bottom of the crust will be undercooked and the top will be done or burned. If you don't use a drip tray, the filling can also melt directly on the elements. Even reheating a sweet bun isn't possible (let alone baking bread or anything that requires real baking) unless you spread some butter on it first so it doesn't burn! That problem alone is worth the return. Second, the knobs are really hard to turn. They are small and closely related, which makes them very difficult to use. If you have arthritis, forget it. This is going to be a fight. Bad design. Third, it is not easy to clean, but on the other hand, there is almost no "toaster oven". No one will be able to keep it clean and beautiful for more than a month or two. Bottom line, I feel this is a poorly designed product at all costs. If you only want to make a fire for toast, buy a toaster. The supposed "convection function" is also inefficient. My last oven could hear the fan running and really worked like a convection oven, cooking anything a regular oven could do and doing it well. Save your money, buy better and look for one that allows you to heat one/or/both elements.
