I've had these for a few months now and was hoping that after a few washes they would "cure" and absorb water better. They don't. In fact, the more often they are washed, the less they seem to absorb. I've never used fabric softener because it can prevent towels from absorbing moisture. Tonight I got out of the shower, leaned forward and fastened the towel to my head. What was my surprise when water started to flow around the edges. It ran down my forehead, around my ears and down my neck. So yes, they get worse with every wash. And yes, I wring my hair out before I put it on. The elastic closure and button are very secure and like I said, they're really soft, but they don't do the job of drying my hair even a bit. I am extremely disappointed! If you want something to sleep on, say oiled or something, this would probably be perfect.
