Works exactly as it should

I bought this player in June 2009 mainly to play AVI files when traveling. I also ended up using it to watch sitcoms on my lunch break at work. I've been looking for portable DivX DVD players for months and have always returned to this cheaper model, but was hesitant due to negative reviews and people claiming that the SD and USB ports on their players didn't work. I finally decided to try my luck and bought an extended warranty through Revain. (I think I should point out that the warranty is provided by a third party company, not Colby. As such, they will not replace or repair the player. If your player fails due to a hardware failure, they will simply refund you for what you get got it, paid for it...) To my delight, my player works perfectly. I had no problems with the SD slot, USB slot or just DVD playback. In fact, this player plays Netflix DVDs that my Toshiba DVD player can't play! PRO* The matte finish is less likely to show fingerprints, scuffs, or scratches.* The player has some bulk. It doesn't look like it will break in your hands. * The screen is big enough to justify what you're looking at, the colors are bright and clear, the subtitles are easy to read. * Comes with a cable and audio/video output function so the player can be displayed on TV. * Comes with a remote control and a battery for the remote control. The remote control is a full DVD remote control with all the standard buttons.* The rotating screen lets you decide how you want to position the player while watching TV.* Comes with car headrest. It's weak but gets the job done and was a nice addition.* The sound is nice and loud. No static electricity. * The main controls are located on the player next to the DVD tray for easy access. * The player can be charged and played as long as it is connected to the network. * A car charger is available for car journeys. CONS* The player only reads SD cards, not SDHC, so your card size is limited to 2GB. * On the player itself, holding chapter skip buttons doesn't rewind or fast forward like I was hoping. You need a remote control to fast-forward and rewind.* If you turn off the player, it will only take over your function while you are watching a DVD. It will not take your place in the video file. It's not that bad for me, but maybe for others. * When you switch to SD card or USB mode, the player will play the first video file immediately. I solved this problem by putting all my files in folders, but I want them to just go to the files directory.* When using the A/V output cable, the video still plays on the player's LCD screen. I haven't found a way to disable this and I suspect there is no way to do it. * During charging, the side of the player where the connector is located becomes very hot. I'm sure it's safe and normal, but it worries me a bit.* It's almost impossible to buy a second battery other than contacting Colby and hoping for the best. I recommend buying a microSDHC and a USB video adapter as the SD card reader cannot read SDHC. I ended up buying the Kingston Mobility Kit, an 8GB microSDHC flash card with SD and miniSD + USB 2.0 Reader MBLY/8GB (black) adapters. I also recommend Case Logic's netbook case for carrying the player. I have a case for Case Logic PLS-9 mini laptop, 7-10 inch (blue). The player and power cord fit into the main compartment. The front compartment offers space for the remote control, the SD card pocket and the A/V cable to your TV. It also has a small USB memory slot where I can store my USB microSDHC adapter. Overall I am very happy with this player. It turned out exactly as I had hoped. I haven't had any of the issues that other reviewers have and use mine almost every day.
