UPDATE: Best. Scrub. JE!

UPDATE: So I'm only updating my review because the product was reformulated (2018). They added (or increased) French green tone. The old version (201-17) was much grainier and I liked it. This one is both gritty and rough AND slippery and slippery (because of the clay). I confess I wasn't sure how I would like it. It's an odd combination that I've never felt before, but. IT WORKS! You still get good exfoliation, but the tone adds a soothing/cleansing quality that, with hindsight, wasn't there in the earlier version. So two thumbs up! My only downside (not important to the product itself) is that I don't like the new branding. The old packaging felt "natural”, "organic”, while that big yellow top and white bottom just screamed "GENERIC PHARMA” to me. Of course I don't care because I'm already in love with the brand and the products BUT as superficial as it sounds if they had that brand/packaging when I first bought this type of product I would most likely pass by. Sad but true. I was planning to use it longer before writing a review but I can't wait! It's the dead of winter: dry air, earthy (olive) complexion, and a baby in tow, so I've left my usual beauty regimen behind. All of this means my skin has seen better days! Nothing special, but the hyperpigmentation from some old pimples along the jawline (too much candy this week?), uneven skin tone, large clogged pores on the nose and inner cheeks are driving me crazy! Along with this scrub. I was very excited about the ingredients, but the first use exceeded my wildest expectations! The smell is divine! First you smell a gentle mint scent with very green/herbal undertones. It's hard to explain, but very refreshing and enjoyable. If you like heavy artificial bath and body scents, then this might not be your cup of tea! If you're super sensitive to artificial ingredients (like me) and the smell of ordinary things gives you a headache, then you'll probably love this! Next is the texture. The scrub beads are thinner than the St. Ives Apricot Scrub (which many of you have probably tried). It's also less watery thanks to the green clay that gives it an *almost* foaming effect and ensures it stays on the face. I left it on for a minute or two after cleaning just for fun and it was perfect. But the best part is how you feel when you wash it off! My face hasn't been that soft since, well, I don't know when! Childhood, it seems! Without exaggeration! Even my husband loved it! Sure, one use won't notice a change in skin tone or hyperpigmentation, but even if this scrub didn't help with those things, I would still use it! My skin feels great (next day) and after using the scrub yesterday I barely needed to moisturize it.
