Bought for my wife's new BMW X7 to protect the carpet from the endless fur of our 2 year old Pyrenees. She throws endlessly! This cover is ideal for the backrest with the 3rd row folded down. It has 3 straps for the front end, 2 small straps that go around the headrests and a large strap that goes around the seats (we have the 2nd row). Row bench, not captain's chairs). The length is a little on the large side so when it's down it falls over the edge of the lower tailgate and I have to be careful to fold the lid so it doesn't catch on the lower tailgate. Mechanism when I close it but it provides protection for the 2 carpeted panels on the bottom gate when down. The only real downside are the side flaps that cover the section under the 3rd row armrests and the 2 rear access flaps. The flaps don't stay up so they fall down when in use leaving those areas unprotected. There is carpeting under the armrests and on the sides so hair can collect in these areas! Probably a square velcro keeps the sides from folding down. This bag has a rubberized bottom to keep it in place when dogs are on it. It's not really soft, but it's more than just a thin shell. Don't expect it to offer any kind of cushioning. I have found that the dog hair sticks a little to the surface where it sits, but the fur is easier to remove than from the carpet! Options are out there, but this is very good for an inexpensive solution!
