, this is a three shelf cat tree. During Prime Day, the 66ft length was specially purchased, so I decided to give it a try. 1/4 inch at 66 feet covers only about 14 inches of the 21-1/2 inch long rod section, which is about 4 inches in diameter. If I had bought enough to wrap all four sections, I would have needed (6) 66 foot lengths (or 396 feet!). I have six cats and I'm not sure if everyone uses rope, but it wears out fast! The fact that it's spiked doesn't matter (in case anyone was wondering, it's the same rope that's usually attached to a scratching post). I take a little more where parts of the "carpet" (not really) tear quickly under heavy use. It took a bit of strength to pull the rope tight enough to keep it from sagging and tie it up (I just made the knots, everything worked fine). Next time I'll check a post that has real carpet or rope already. I know there is a company that supplies replacement parts that claim to be better than the original, but it's a bit pricey for my budget. If maybe I had two gentle cats, yes. But not our six!
