Hanger swings, hold tight!

This is a great ankle brace. At the end of June I sprained my ankle and the doctor prescribed a compression bandage which didn't help. I spoke to my physical therapist and he recommended this ASO ankle stabilizer for me. Doesn't matter. The ASO ankle stabilizer made my ankle tight. It's comfortable and goes with all my shoes. This made it perfect for wearing in the garden, on a hike, or at work in front of a client. The ASO Ankle Stabilizer laces up like a boot when you put it on your foot. It then comes with two straps that go under your foot and come back on either side. A large Velcro strap holds everything together at the front of the calf. The fabric is a thin nylon but doesn't stretch at all and locks the ankle in place. You can position your foot (flex your foot up or down) to fine-tune your foot placement. My physical therapist had me put on a splint and while I was on the floor he leaned forward and then tightened the straps. This gave my foot a more natural running position. A few things to watch out for: As you place the side straps around the sole of your foot, make sure they are again positioned over the heel. When I first used this brace, I placed the straps on the arch of my foot. This led to circulatory problems and my leg started to hurt. Bring the straps closer to your heel and you'll be fine. Secondly, when lacing the bandage, I often overtightened the laces. This wasn't necessary as the support came from the straps. Do not overtighten the laces.
