At a time when many hurricanes are required I have trusted my own instincts and bought 2 of these: one for myself and one for my dad. Yes, you need to enter the codes for your region, but they're easy to find. The instructions are a bit complicated, but it's very similar to programming a digital clock. To be honest I had a little problem with this but I emailed Oregon Scientific and got a call 3 hours later and within 8 minutes it was programmed. They were also kind enough to call my 75 year old father and he was confused too and guided him through the whole process, there customer service is the best. They really care about the consumer and offer a decent quality product for the money. I've never been treated so well over the phone. very impressive. I would definitely buy another product from these wonderful people. I should also mention that you don't have to keep it on all the time, it has a great and repeating great standby that works, it was quiet all day except for an emergency transmission from the national weather service. I am very impressed with this little money
