We have been looking for a suitable dog door for a long time. i love this one It's heavy, durable, and looks built-in. Not sure about weatherproofing, but a thick vinyl door with a fairly heavy magnet. I'm sure this has already reduced our electricity bill as our (farm) dogs come and go frequently. I'm grateful I didn't have to cut a hole in the outside door to fix this and also that it can be considered somewhat temporary as it's just as easy to remove. ) Porch in about 20 minutes with a bit more insulation around it than included/specified. We bought the largest for our largest dog. Even our smallest terrier can jump. I suggest researching and following the training instructions carefully as I can see how a dog can become afraid and possibly develop an aversion to anything new. Also remember that learning takes time and patience. Our young labrador "caught" right away and our ridgeback has only come for his favorite treat so far. The little ones still need a little training. For security/protection I ordered locks on the wings so that the window cannot be opened from the outside. It comes with a plastic lid to seal it when I want to keep dogs inside or outside. Overall the quality is great, I'm happy and my dogs are happy. We are all happy about a lower electricity bill!
