I had three of these - one originally ordered and two replaced. When I ordered the first one, I noticed one day that the LED indicators showed that the batteries were low and not charging. Have owned it for about 1 month. I ordered a replacement and a month later, while sitting at the computer, I had a power surge. As I walked into the kitchen, I noticed the LEDs on the charger turned red again. At the time, I suspected that overvoltage would ruin these batteries. I ordered a replacement and connected the charger to the surge protector. They have not deteriorated in the past two months. There were no power surges as far as I know, but they could have been while I wasn't home. Either way, you can use a surge protector with this charger instead of just plugging it straight into an outlet to save yourself the hassle of returning it or eating it if it goes bad past the warranty period.
