It would be great if the neighbors didn't connect to it [Solved]

I love these speakers. I'm alternating between using Bluetooth capabilities and optical input. Switching is smooth and easy. As soon as I connect via Bluetooth from my Macbook Pro, it switches to that input. The sound is really pleasant. Rich and fed. The only annoying thing is that my GenZ punk neighbors across the street think it's fun to plug in my speakers and play loud, horrible music. For a while I turned off the speakers when not in use, but this made it impossible to just play music on them. I found 2 solutions to solve this problem. First, to permanently connect one of my parked Macs to the speakers via Bluetooth, then set the BluetoothConnector to just disconnect/connect via ssh. The speakers only allow 1 Bluetooth connection. So when I want to stream music from my roaming laptop, I have a small shell alias that SSH connects to my parked Mac, run BluetoothConnector --disconnect and then run BluetoothConnector --connect from my roaming laptop . When I'm done, I run another command that does the opposite, which keeps one of my computers always connected and blocks the punk kids. The second solution is to plug the speakers into a WeMo Wi-Fi outlet and then write a small command that issues on/off commands to the outlet, which turns off power to the speakers. The speakers return to the state they were in when they were powered off. CPAN has several Perl modules that can handle the WeMo API. I don't know the long-term effects of a hard power cut on speakers, so I went with the first solution.

Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
