These are the perfect first building blocks for babies! Since they are a bit bigger, the child has to make some effort to lift them, which is good. I also don't have to worry about it falling on solid blocks. My son loves tearing down the towers we build. Sometimes he even started stacking the blocks himself. I don't like toys that baby outgrows after a few months, so I like that these blocks can grow with him. Each side of the block has its own game. On one side is the number 1-10 that will help him count. On the other side is an item with a specific number (e.g. 2 cats, 5 fish, etc.) so that the child can match the number to the picture (e.g. 2 cats with number 2). Half of the object is on the other side and the child has to find the other half on the other block. The two blocks have the same object (e.g. two beach balls). There is a puzzle piece on the other side and all the blocks together make up the picture. I forgot what's on the other pages, but you get the point - lots of different exercises as the child learns new skills.
