Made in China. The wood is cheap but not as "thin" as other reviewers make it out to be. It looks like laminated cork wood. It can probably carry quite a bit of weight on it, maybe something like a plant in a pot. maybe a computer monitor. As it is not heavy it can move on the surface if not supported/supported by something. Drawers will not close flush if they are carelessly closed for physical reasons. But they *close* if you close them carefully. It can store smaller items like small pieces and beans that would otherwise clutter up the table. The inside height is about 1 1/4 inches. In my opinion, it is not suitable for "clean" rooms such as bathrooms or kitchens. It seems more suited to an artist's desk due to the rustic materials and appearance. In general I like him. Nice way to store a few little things that I only need every now and then. Appearance is good enough. The price is too high. If it was $20 cheaper I would probably buy two.
