A few months ago I tried the Simple Gold Leaf Speedball and it wasn't as easy as it sounds. I recently had to silver plate a wooden box and decided to give it another try. I had Speedball liquid glue on hand from last time --- the jar is big and you just have to brush it on. a little. I think my technique got a little bit better because the silver leaf was much easier to apply and with less stickiness than my gold leaf. The "easy" part is the wax paper you use to work the sheets, not just your fingers or tweezers. You take a page from a small exercise book and fold the waxed paper, metal side down, onto the adhesive. DO NOT start rubbing and buffing right away because it can turn into a dull, sticky mess. The sheet is incredibly thin and will tear if you even look at it funny. You don't need a special polishing tool or brush. I just used a cotton swab! You will have mysterious spots where you are sure you applied glue but didn't glue the sheet, but you can go over it with glue again and reapply a small spot of the sheet. Be prepared to make a big mess that's hard to vacuum up without throwing more dirt around. When you start polishing the sheet everything comes off, whatever doesn't touch the glue just pops off and flies. Tip: Try to find a large, flat box to stuff your project in while you work on it. While it's a bit awkward to work like this, at least you can drive the metal flakes in. The silver color is beautiful, although it doesn't have the same richness as gold leaf. I applied it to the entire lid of a painted wooden box and while the end result was nice I'm not 100% sure it was nicer than just using high quality silver paint or liquid silver sheet. I gave the box as a gift and the recipient thought it was beautiful. Conclusion: It's not exactly "easy", but it can be done. If you're a crafting pro, you'll probably love this silver foil. or liquid silver coating. I gave the box as a gift and the recipient thought it was beautiful.
