Energy Efficient, Beautiful and Quiet

Our goal was a fan that was almost a 'work of art' as the large open space had few walls for actual art. We battled between this fan ($695) and Big Ass Fans' Haiku ($895+) and chose this one for its amazing power efficiency and lower price. This fan is just gorgeous and really has that vintage airplane propeller that we wanted. The blades are made of faux plastic, but the finish looks quite authentic, as does the shape of the blades. The finish we chose (nickel with koa blades) was ordered earlier, but it was worth the wait. Also, the color matched the photos on the website exactly; Koa is a medium golden brown, very similar to aged bamboo. Minka Aire's packaging was quite amazing, with each blade individually wrapped in a soft, flocked cloth pouch. ) for handling the blades during installation and a lint-free cloth for dusting. The blades use a small hex head mounting screw that can be a bit fiddly to install. If possible, have a second person help you with the installation so one person can hold the first blade with the supplied allen wrench while the screws are installed. Then the blades are plugged into each other, which makes further installation a little easier. The fan comes with a 6-speed wall mount remote control. Even at level 1, this fan moves a lot of air very quietly. There is no "hum" from the motor and no real noise from the blades. Overall we are very happy with this fan. It was double the price of what we usually buy, but it was worth it. Would definitely buy it again.
