Review on πŸ“ Uni 2B Wooden Pencil - Box of 12 (U2B) by Shirley Johnson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Oh God! Wonderful! If you are creative, give it a try!

I bought these pens after deciding to order the new Blackwing Palamino pens and seeing that they were mentioned in a review. In my opinion this is a step above Blackwings. While Blackwings are smooth, they're even smoother. And they are available in different degrees of hardness/softness. They do NOT come with an eraser, but you can easily buy white plastic rubber bands to attach to the ends (remember the erasers we tape to school pencils when we've used up all the pencils). available eraser). I recommend a new white plastic eraser, not the old erasers from my childhood. A white plastic eraser works better. Speaking of erasing, they erase cleanly and without a shadow left over from previous lines. Very good! Erases cleaner than Blackwing pencils. I would also recommend getting lead tips/caps as this lead is very soft and will break easily if just kept in a pocket without protection. Revain sells several aluminum pencils in packs of 4 at a very good price considering they are made in Japan. Because the lead is so soft, they wear out quicker than traditional HB pencils. I would also recommend a good quality pencil sharpener (if possible a good brass sharpener with interchangeable blades as a good sharp blade is essential to sharpen these pencils if you want a good point). I don't feel like I need to sharpen them as often as some of the other reviewers have mentioned, although I do think it can impact how hard different users press when using these pens. Harder pressure results in a bolder, thicker, and darker line, but I find these qualities sufficient for my drawing and writing without pressing down hard on the pen during use. Conclusion: Drawing and writing with them is a real pleasure. In my opinion, clean, smooth, bold lines are their main feature. Too pricey perhaps for a non-creative user, but amazing to feel and look at for those of us who are.
