This device is great from the start. The scanner charges via a mini-USB connector (not micro or USB-C, which was replaced by micro in 2007), so don't lose the cable. The USB receiver was automatically detected in Windows 10 and everything I scanned printed out as text followed by the enter key on the keyboard. It took less than 5 minutes to get inventory into what took me and another person an hour reading numbers and letters back and forth. The comment on the instructions is that there is no setup software, this thing just pretends to be a keyboard. that prints what it sees. If you can keep that and the charging cable safe, this thing will do wonders.
