I was really surprised at how much my cat loves this mat. It already has 3 beds and some scratching posts, but as all cat owners know, according to your cat, you can never have too many cat-related items in your house. It won't replace its self-heating cat bed, but it will become a second row. My cat doesn't have front claws, but he still loves to scratch things. This rug is no exception, but it may not be the best option. He really seems to enjoy frantically scratching at it, but he's so light he has to move the rug across the floor. It might work better as a scratch on the carpet. Regardless, he still seems to thoroughly enjoy lying on this mat and napping, rolling around and pulling up the edges of the mat to rub his face against it. Overall I would call it a complete success. I paid a lot more for my cat who doesn't care. For the price I would buy these again. He likes it very much, it works both as a bed and as a toy.
