Younger children will need a manual

My 2 year old daughter and I love this toy but it's not quite perfect. As some reviewers have pointed out, there are thirteen pairs of popsicles, not twenty-six. Letters are printed on both sides, not just one. It suits me personally. At the age of two my daughter needs me to play an educational toy with her so I can say the name of each letter out loud and show her the correct one. Educational toys require a passionate teacher to get the ball rolling! She can't put the lollipops together yet. Putting the pieces together takes more effort than she can do, so it's an asterisk. However, they are colorful and she likes to play with them alone in her play kitchen. We can use them to play color matching and sorting games and we can also use them to work on letter recognition. I think it's a great toy. A toddler needs a lot of free play, but educational games with adults are also important. This toy is perfect for that purpose (I keep this set in a little plastic tub from the dollar store in her play kitchen).

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
