Review on ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Ultimate Protection: SafeRest Twin XL Size Classic Plus Waterproof Mattress Protector - Vinyl Free by Tammy Larsen

Bought one to try, now I'm buying two more!

I read hundreds of reviews on the internet to find a good mattress topper. The purpose of our use of this Hypoallergenic, 100% Waterproof SafeRest Classic Plus Double Size Mattress Topper - Vinyl Free* was my 4 year old's bed. He sleeps very well and is not yet housebroken at night. And it was great! We recently bought new beds for the kids and when we were replacing the old mattress I decided to find a REALLY GOOD waterproof cover to protect the new one! For those who say it's not waterproof. I don't know how that is possible. Maybe they have a "lemons" product? But even after a few falls (and my son pees a lot!) the new mattress underneath is dry. Initially skeptical due to mixed reviews, I placed one of the polyester crib mattress pads underneath to aid absorption and "just in case". But even without this, the liquid does not seep through. not waterproof. It's just a stretchy fabric that fits the mattress well and isn't difficult to handle. (Bonus if you have bunk beds that you crawl under/onto them to make them) The cover itself has the same soft fabric that's almost "padded" with the waterproof plastic fabric underneath. But it's not crunchy like many plastic cups. I can't tell how much it affects sleep, but we're in Arizona so it's always hot here. I've washed it several times. I personally wash it in a large mesh bag so it doesn't get caught on anything. Carefully place in warm water (machine) and hang to dry. As a last resort, I put it in the dryer on low to speed up drying before bed, but I usually let it air dry completely. One of the reasons I buy an extra spare. I've tried some of the "cheaper" plastic cases in the past that zip up and even close all the way and just rip them open. And then flow! This one, which has a soft fabric in addition to the waterproof side, can withstand little boys bouncing on their bed. And it's not very loud and crackles when you move or sit on it! (Nice too. On the last one we had an awful noise every time my son moved.) I would highly recommend this cover if you are looking for a great value product that works! some people do with it. And I don't have any pets to climb on or sleep on either. I wouldn't suggest this as a bed bug solution either (as shown in the product photo) simply because it's not a fully encapsulating cover.

Pros
  • worth the money
Cons
  • too dumb
