First I bought a much cheaper fan before but it had plastic clips which wouldn't fit unless I removed the back panel behind the motherboard (where the stock fan was screwed on on). Wouldn't try, even for a $9 fan. I bought this one after another review saying it worked well with my computer. There is no need to mount a back panel as it fits on top of the existing one. Basically you just apply thermal paste to it (tube included) and screw it in. Easy! I haven't noticed any performance improvement or reduction compared to the stock fan. It was a simple replacement for a broken standard fan. The plastic parts of the original became brittle over time and simply cracked and broke off on their own.
