They are very charming and last a lot longer than I expected. I use adult sizes. They can withstand a lot of stress. The leather handles are a bit thin. They don't seem to last long given the weight of the laundry, so I carry the baskets by the top rim instead of the handles. For storing lighter weights, handles are fine with me. The top hem wear is just a minor inconvenience and well worth it to me for the price, good looks and capacity. I line them with nylon laundry bags to hold the dirty laundry and then put the clean laundry straight into the unlined hamper. The interior of the containers is lightly plasticized and appears to be moisture and odor resistant.
