Simple things make a big difference
I bought this to replace mine which broke after I don't know how many years. Either my original was from a different brand or they changed the design a bit. My old one would fit on a thicker sponge than this. I fixed this by gently heating the plastic with a candle and then bending it a bit. Also note that the suction cups are blue, although this can be seen in the photo. I don't know whose idea this is but luckily my original clear suction cup fitted the new mount perfectly. Also note that you will receive 2 holders.
