I've been using these for about 2 months since moving to a new location. I don't understand why some people say they can't fit 1 inch thick sponges. They work fine. They are made from durable plastic and this combined with the fact that the sponge is very spongy makes it very easy to install a sponge of this size - you just slide the sponge into the holder. This holder works great. I moistened the suction cup a little and then pressed firmly in the center for about five seconds and it held. I've attached it to my metal sink since I bought it and it's still holding up. Remember that the sponge needs to be 1 inch or less for the holder to work well. If the sponge slides in and out very easily, the suction power is constant. Do not touch the holder with your hands. This holder helps the sponge dry faster. I say buy.

This product will hold your dish sponge the way you expect it to. The suction cup has more than enough grip to hold the weight of a fully wet sponge without slipping and the plastic cage holds the sponge very securely. I bought these sponge holders many years ago (not online). This is exactly what I wanted to replace the very old ones I was using. The holders, probably ten years old, began to break. maybe not the same brand but similar. They have held up well over time. I put tuffies in the kitchen and a bar of soap in the bathroom upstairs.

I bought this to replace mine which broke after I don't know how many years. Either my original was from a different brand or they changed the design a bit. My old one would fit on a thicker sponge than this. I fixed this by gently heating the plastic with a candle and then bending it a bit.
