The product is delivered in a box. It is not broken or torn out of the packaging. No chips, all corners are solid, sharp edges. When using it for the first time, there is a very small spot of dirt on the list. This means it doesn't have the same consistency as the rest of the stone. This is a small part of something that interferes with knife sharpening. Perhaps even the appearance of chips on the edge of the blade. I took a photo to show this piece mixed with stone. I would not recommend this product, even if the stone is supposed to be an investment. That's not why you're getting a brand new knife set. Other than that part, it works fine. A piece of material was found on the face of the stone that was not supposed to be in the stone. The fine-grain side does the job of finishing the edge of whatever you're sharpening.
