As long as you can clamp the ladder to keep it in place. They are great for a small dog. Luckily, my bedroom setup allows me to push the corner of the bottom ladder against the dresser so the ladder sits securely on my high Cal King bed and doesn't shift around on the hardwood floor. My 10 lb Papillon immediately climbed the stairs on one try (tempted by the treat). Now she flies up and down and I don't have to worry about her jumping off my loft bed onto the wooden floor and hurting herself. The ladder also looks nice and is easy to wag and store on the wall in the bedroom during the day. The plus is that it doesn't hurt if you toe them at night! I am very happy with this purchase.
