I think it works well for a round or tapered brush. However; I don't think it works that well for a flat or outlined brush. This causes the brush to deform and straighten the bristles. I messed up some small beveled pleating brushes. Even more worrying is that I messed up my BK Beauty Foundation contour brush. After brushing, the bristles started falling out at the edges and fell out when I applied foundation. I had to throw it away. It was quite an expensive brush and I'm sorry I ruined it with this cleaning implement. Sigh. I learned my lesson to only use this product with round/tapered brushes. And start with brushes, which are cheap and just in case you don't care until you get the hang of them.
