I'm a sound engineer with 40 years of experience, so it's easy for me to immediately recognize the response and sound quality of any audio product. I was looking for an inexpensive set of "normal" sounding headphones to give away. There are too many headphones these days that emphasize bass. But actually every monitor should be neutral and emphasize the type of music that the user prefers. Surprisingly this Sony kit sounds great at this price point. It's clear, deep and pretty accurate. My pair has benefited from "shrinkage" when used for a while before noticing a real reaction. I would say that the only downside of this model is that that it seems less efficient than the others. this means that it has a lower sound power per watt and therefore does not get as loud with this source. But otherwise highly recommended. I think this will be my choice.
