I have a 5 gallon pygmy seahorse aquarium and use a sponge filter and air stone. I originally bought this as a backup in case of a power outage but changed my mind when I found this pump to be just as quiet and powerful as my previous one. A battery backup also makes it very convenient to clean my aquarium and move the pump around as it can be unplugged and still run on battery power. Thanks to the long cable and USB plug, it fits very well into other sockets on my surge protector (heater, filter, Artemia incubator, lighting, etc.). Will definitely buy again!
