Battery didn't seem to hold a charge long. Difficulty starting and holding hedger on

I got this hedge trimmer after carefully reading the reviews to make sure it would work for my situation, but it didn't. I'm not sure if I just got a bad product because I seemed to have trouble with things no one else mentioned. First, I have rheumatoid arthritis so I have a weak grip. I can use the Craftsman weedwacker just fine, though, so I didn't anticipate a problem with this product. The hedge trimmer was not too heavy for me to hold for a time, but the power button/lever was not the full length of the grip. I had trouble flipping the safety switch forward while pulling up on the power button with essentially two fingers. Those two fingers also got tired quickly because they were taking the whole job of holding the power on.However, my main problem was with the power level. I charged the battery when I received the product, though the battery showed that it was fully charged. I had trouble getting the battery to slide fully into place on the hedger. I then had difficulty getting it to turn on due to the difficulty with the safety switch, which was frustrating. I used this on plant stems (some woody, some not) that were half an inch or less in width. The hedge trimmer seemed to get clogged rather than smoothly cutting through the stems. On a whim, I tried it on some tall grass, and it seemed to have difficulty even there. It certainly was not leaving clean cuts. I thought maybe the battery needed to be charged even though I'd only been using it for five minutes. The charger showed that it was still fully charged, though. I left the battery on for several hours just to make sure. I wasn't able to use it again for several weeks due to a flareup of my RA, and I did not charge the battery before use. When I tried it, again it got choked up on half inch size plant stems and seemed to lose all power after one minute of use. As in, I could not get it to run again despite seven tries. At this point, I just gave up and decided to return it because I was having too much trouble using it.

Pros
  • I like the quality of these trimmers. No more cutting cords. They cut well and are easy to handle.
Cons
  • The product is not ideal for detailed trimming
