Review on PetSafe Premium Classic Large Satin by Adrienne Parker

I feel this door is overpriced for the quality of its construction. For that amount of money they shouldn't give you plastic screws to hold the dog door together. I have a St. Bernard and a Boxer that use this door. Disadvantages: 1. Plastic screws for fastening the door frame. They had to be replaced within a week to keep the frame intact and secure it to the front door. Sometimes the valve falls out of the door. Must remove the inside of the frame to reattach it.3. In extremely cold weather (-10°F) the wing is so stiff that the aluminum frame can withstand more than the plastic wing. The inner rod that holds the wing is held in place by just one screw at each end. There are small ribs (1mm high) on the side frame to keep the bar from twisting as the wing moves, but in this weather the hard wing acts as leverage to rotate the crossbar past those edges, and eventually the edges wear out. If the edges were higher, it would be harder for the bar to curl. Not good design.4. Replacement flaps for $25? A bit steep for a piece of plastic.5. Bad customer service. I complained to #3 upstairs and they couldn't believe this could happen to their door. Apparently the door's failure to withstand normal use is not covered by the warranty. According to CSR, this is not a product defect as long as the frame has not been damaged in transit.6. Save your receipt, the site claims warranty claims don't require a receipt when you sign up. Not true, they still wanted a receipt. Pros: 1. Fairly easy/quick installation.2. Keeps cold.3. Not bad if you have warm weather all year round. Overall it does its job, but there are a few things to watch out for. If you think you might need to return the doors I would look at another brand behind their product.
