Saved me from a natural gas leak. I figured I could smell gas for a few days so I ordered this detector. When it arrived a few days later, I plugged it into the kitchen first. No alarm clock. I then hooked it up to my gas clothes dryer where I thought I smelled something. The alarm clock went off a few minutes after switching it on! So I called the gas company and they came out and said yes I had a gas leak in the gas line that went to the dryer and they turned off the gas. The second benefit was that the plumber who came in later that day to install the new gas line noticed that my dryer vent was disconnected from the dryer, meaning carbon monoxide was also entering my house. So this device saved me from 2 deadly problems.
