Review on Noctua NF S12A PWM Premium Quiet by Kenneth Cotton

Noctua fans are known to builders as one of the best options for quiet operation. From CPU coolers to CPU fans (static), case fans (airflow) and hybrids in between, Noctua has everything covered. I have used Noctua 120mm, 140mm, 40mm and 92mm fans for various projects. I used 120mm/140mm fans for cases and processors. I've used their 40mm fans for 3D printers and Southbridge chipsets (like the Intel DX58SO motherboard). I use the 92mm on the Odroid Cloudshell 2. In all cases, the fans move a lot of air (or static pressure) to keep temperatures low and quiet. This particular fan, a 4-pin PWM NF-S12A (they also offer a 3-pin model), suggests Noctua that it works well as a case fan and offers good airflow. It comes with screws and rubber grommets for attaching the fan (the latter for more vibration dampening over the standard use of screws, but the corners of the fan are covered with a thin rubber pad that already does a good job of dampening excessive vibration, so I've never seen the colors of the Noctua -I don't care about fans and if you don't like the color they also sell a gray version called "Redux" but it performs a little worse than normal fans and doesn't come with mounting grommets or extra cables to reduce fan speed, that come with this model Noctua also makes a static pressure version (for CPU cooler and heatsink) as well as a hybrid model that works well in any application (static vs air which I have bought and will use many of these fans buy them again, in this particular case I have them for the Ultra Gladiator mid-tower case (old model 20 07/200 9). I'm using one in the front and one in the back for an older Core i7-477 0K machine (not overclocked). I also used a pair on a newer AMD Ryzen 5 3400G system in an Antec 900 case with 1/2 front fans with Noctua (I chose the other one for an LED fan so I can tell from a distance when it's on is) and one in the case. back of the body. These fans regulate the temperature well in all cases and are very quiet. I've used Antec, Corsair, Thermaltake, Cooler Master, Deep Cool, Cryorig, and BeQuiet! and some fans of unnamed brands - Noctua is by far the quietest of almost all, and for others it could be a tight bond, if not a winner. If you are looking for good performance and quiet operation, then this is the fan to consider.
