So let's get rid of it - it's fake. Or, more simply put, a reproduction. However, this is normal. It looks that good 95% of the time. Let's talk about the countertop, its hard marble about 1/2 inch thick - good grit and good quality. Honestly, this is where 75% of your money goes. The base is aluminum as far as I can tell (don't quote me on that). Good felt padding on the bottom, good paintwork. looks great. The only problem with the base is the underside that you could see if the bottom wasn't finished (laughs). but who cares. Finally, here you can see that it is fake and the quality is not 100% the same, but you shouldn't worry about that. The part that runs between the base and the marble top is a round piece of wood. No problem, but it's badly sanded (rough!) and clearly spray-painted. It doesn't look very good. But will you ever seriously be less than 20 inches off the ground to look at this? At worst, you can easily get rid of this with fine sandpaper and paint, but trust me you don't have to. The most important details are perfect. I have no regrets and that comes from a person who usually buys the "genuine" on purpose. But for this place I couldn't justify 800+ for a new Knoll piece. You are buying a quality product - for the price you will not regret it. I will not hesitate to buy another Lexmod product after receiving this item.
