Love this item! We recently switched TV provider from Comcast to Uverse. While the Comcast remote went through a wooden closet with ease (our cable box is hidden in an enclosed closet with doors over 1 inch thick), the Uverse remote required a physical view of the cable box to work. Since the case that was open the whole time was a deal breaker I was willing to give Uverse a boot until I found this! It plugs into a USB port on the cable box and there are plenty of cables to route outside of the case - the little black sensor can 'talk'. now for the Uverse remote control. I don't notice any slowdown in transfer times and all remote functions still work (volume, channels, DVR, etc.). I would deduct 1/2 a star if I could because it is only offered in black (my closet is all white!) - it would be nice if someone made them white I could use white tape to secure the black wire hide but can't stick anything on the black oval sensor probably the only one who notices but bummer nonetheless. Overall I would recommend it.
